Suspect faces kidnapping, agg. assault charges

From Ponchatoula Police:

Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Layrisson reports the arrest of 25-year-old Brandon Guaraggi on Kidnapping and Assault charges.

A little after midnight on July 11, 2019, Ponchatoula Officers were dispatched to the Mi Patio restaurant in reference to a domestic disturbance in which a female employee’s boyfriend, Guaraggi, entered the building with a firearm demanding the female to leave with him. Before officer’s arrival, Guaraggi forced the female to the parking lot and fled the scene.

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Task Force Agents assisted Ponchatoula PD Officers to Guaraggi’s residence located in Hammond. Officers made contact with Guaraggi and placed him under arrest after a brief struggle. The victim was located in a bedroom of the residence with a physical injury to the face. While conducting the welfare check on the victim, a pistol was observed on the bed partially covered by a pillow as well as drug paraphernalia.

Brandon Guaraggi was transported to the Ponchatoula Police Department where he was booked on Second Degree Kidnapping and Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, and then transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office has charged Guaraggi with False Imprisonment- Armed with a Weapon and Domestic Abuse Battery. This case is still being investigated by Detectives and any further information will be given out as it comes available.
