Press Release from Louisiana State Fire Marshal:
LIVINGSTON PARISH--- The State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFM), in partnership with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, has arrested a man for burning down an abandoned trailer he used to lease.
Tony Gabel, 52, was booked into the Livingston Parish Jail on one count each of Simple Arson and Criminal Trespass. The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office also booked Gabel for outstanding felony warrants in connection with unrelated crimes.
In the early morning hours of July 17, Livingston Parish Fire District 4 requested the assistance of the SFM to determine the origin and cause of a fire at an abandoned mobile home located on Milton Road in Walker.
Through the course of the investigation, deputies learned this was the second fire that occurred on this property in a month’s time and that vagrants had been seen in and out of the structure recently. One of those vagrants was identified by witnesses to be Gabel.
Through additional investigative efforts, Gabel was confirmed as the suspect in the case and located with the assistance of the L.P.S.O.
Following an interview with investigators, Gabel was arrested in connection with this case along with the warrants he was wanted for at the time he was taken into custody.
