St. Tammany’s Final Live Safe. Work Safe. Shop Safe. Action Plan and Companion Website Announced
St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper announced today the details of St. Tammany’s Live Safe. Work Safe. Shop Safe. Action Plan set to launch Friday, May 15, 2020 in accordance with the Governor’s Phase One reopening announced Monday, May 11, 2020. Details of the Plan are fully fleshed out on the newly launched website, www.sttammanysafe.com. Anyone with questions can use the website or call the Live Safe. Work Safe. Shop Safe. Hotline at 1-985-809-1411 to get technical assistance.
“Over the past weeks, we’ve been strategically and thoughtfully preparing our Live Safe. Work Safe. Shop Safe. Action Plan in anticipation of this announcement, through research, focus groups, and the help of industry regulating boards —and I can honestly say we are ready with a sustainable reopening plan. I applaud the St. Tammany Economic Recovery and Resiliency Advisory Council — especially Chris Masingill and his team at St. Tammany Corporation — for leading this effort, particularly on such an accelerated timeline. I also want to thank our citizens for their input through email, phone calls and focus groups. Your engagement shaped this plan,” Cooper said. “What I want to continue to stress is that we need to reopen responsibly, using precautions already in place, so we continue to balance the health of our community with the health of our economy. This is crucial to keeping our numbers down.”
“Everybody understands that there is some risk when we begin to get back together. Our job is to mitigate that risk,” said Dr. Charles Preston, St. Tammany Parish Coroner. “It’s the same message you’ve heard — wash your hands, cough in your elbow, social distance, and wear a mask. Every single citizen is encouraged to comply with that.”
“We look forward to launching Phase 1 of the Action Plan on Friday, as it provides St. Tammany with a strong opportunity to begin a sustainable economic recovery,” says Chris Masingill, St. Tammany Corporation CEO. “Balancing the economic vitality of our community with public health and safety requires all of us to be nimble and vigilant. We understand that our community is ready to get back to work and to open their businesses in a responsible, safe, and sustainable manner. The guidelines and recommendations outlined in the Action Plan provide for the phased reopening of our economy while prioritizing public health and safety.”
Phase One of the Live Safe. Work Safe. Shop Safe. Action Plan is expected to be fully implemented on Friday, May 15, 2020. The plan is evidence-based and data-driven with contingencies built in should adjustments need to future phases due to fluctuations in cases throughout the course of the pandemic response.
