Slidell man arrested for attempted rape, burglary

A Slidell-area man was arrested Tuesday (June 11) after he forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s residence and attempted to rape her.

Shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, 23-year-old Jonathan Lewis arrived at his ex-girlfriend’s residence and requested to be let inside. When she refused, Lewis forced his way through the front door. He then attempted to rape her. The victim was able to escape and drive to a family member’s residence, where she called 9-1-1.

Warrants were issued for Lewis’ arrest for L.R.S. 14:27.42.1 Attempted Second Degree Rape and L.R.S. 14:60A(3) Aggravated Burglary with Battery.

Lewis was located by St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies when he arrived at his residence Tuesday evening and was taken into custody. He was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on the above listed warrants.
