Man arrested, another sought after tip leads deputies to drugs

A tip from an anonymous citizen led members of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force to a Slidell-area residence where narcotics and numerous firearms were located Wednesday (April 17).

 

One individual has been arrested and another is being sought in connection with the case.

 

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force received an anonymous tip from a resident concerned about potential narcotics activity at a home on DeSoto Street in Slidell.

 

While executing the search warrant at the residence, detectives located a male hiding inside the home. The male initially provided a fake name, but was ultimately identified as Antonio Valdez, 27, of Houston.

 

Detectives also located approximately six ounces of cocaine, 16 grams of THC wax, 30 dosage units of alprazolam, approximately eight grams of marijuana, assorted narcotics paraphernalia, $791 believed to be the proceeds of narcotics transactions, and a clandestine hydroponic marijuana grow which yielded 18 marijuana plants.

 

A suppressed AR-15 rifle with multiple loaded high capacity magazines, an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 pistol, a .380 caliber handgun, a 9 mm handgun, a taser and ballistic body armor were also located inside the residence. Detectives located an additional approximately three grams of cocaine inside a vehicle, which was parked at the residence.

 

Valdez was subsequently placed under arrest and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on the following charges:

L.R.S. 40:966A--Manufacture of Schedule I CDS Marijuana plants-- (Felony)

L.R.S. 40:969C--Possession of a Schedule IV CDS (Alprazolam)-- (Felony)

L.R.S. 40:966C--Possession of Schedule I CDS Marijuana-- (Misdemeanor)

L.R.S. 14:95.1--Possession of Firearm by Person Convicted of Certain Felonies--(Felony)

L.R.S. 14:95 E--Illegal Carry of Weapons; Crime or CDS-- (Felony)

L.R.S. 14:130.1--Obstruction of Justice-- (Felony)

L.R.S. 14:108--Resisting an Officer-- (Misdemeanor)

L.R.S. 40:1041--Transactions involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses-- (Felony)

L.R.S. 14:95.3--Unlawful Use or Possession of Body Armor-- (Felony)

 

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task also has warrants for the arrest of Trequan Rollins, 25, on the following charges in connection with this case:

L.R.S. 40:967AC--Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II CDS cocaine-- (Felony)

L.R.S. 40:966AC--Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I CDS THC wax-- (Felony)

L.R.S. 40:1023 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia-- (Misdemeanor)

L.R.S. 40:969C--Possession of a Schedule IV CDS (Alprazolam)-- (Felony)

L.R.S. 40:966C--Possession of Schedule I CDS Marijuana-- (Misdemeanor)

L.R.S. 14:95 E--Illegal Carry of Weapons; Crime or CDS -- (Felony)

L.R.S. 14:108--Resisting an Officer-- (Misdemeanor)

L.R.S. 14:95.3--Unlawful Use or Possession of Body Armor-- (Felony)

 

The STPSO Narcotics Task Force is composed of detectives from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Mandeville Police Department.
