Man accused of drug and theft spree in Amite Hammond & Ponchy


AMITE, LA --- Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports the following arrest.

On August 4, 2018, Jeffery Lee, 43-years-old of Scott LA. was taken into custody and charged with conspiracy to commit felony theft, possession of stolen property (Felony), possession with intent to distribute a schedule II C.D.S. (methamphetamine) and possession of CDSII (oxycodone). Additionally, arrest warrants have been obtained for 36-year-old Michael Monroe Kelly of Addis, LA. for similar charges.

On Friday August 3, 2018, the TPSO began investigating a case involving credit card fraud at the Ponchatoula Walmart. While reviewing surveillance camera video, TPSO Detective Travis Pittman observed several subjects who were previously identified and accused of committing a similar crime(s) at the Walmart in Amite.

The subjects identify from the surveillance video were Jeffery Lee, 43-years-old of Scott, LA. and 36-year-old Michael Monroe Kelly of Addis, LA. Subsequenlty, Scott was taken into custody on August 4, 2018. A search of his vehicle revealed over one thousand dollars in stolen property taken from numerous Walmart's in Baton Rouge to Hammond, over one half ounce (16.3 Grams) of Methamphetamine and numerous Oxycodone tablets.

Lee's counterpart, Michael Monroe Kelly of Addis, LA. is still at large. Anyone knowing of his whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 800.554.5245.
