From Hammond Police
Hammond, LA – On September 8, 2020 at 10:16 am, the Hammond Police Department received credible information that a wanted violent subject was in the Martin Luther King park area. Jocorian Cyprian, 21 years old of Hammond, had active felony warrants through the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office for Accessory to 2nd Degree Murder - After the Fact, Obstruction of Justice, and Drive-by Shooting.
After completing a situational assessment, HPD deemed the suspect high-risk and activated the SWAT team to ensure everyone’s safety. That team successfully arrested Cyprian without incident or injury to anyone involved.
During the execution of the arrest warrant on North Holly Street, officers and investigators on scene could smell the strong odor of marijuana and discovered a weapon inside the home. An additional search warrant was obtained and led to the arrest of Tyra Cyprian, 42 years old of Hammond, for Possession of Schedule IV with the Intent to Distribute and Possession of Marijuana. The investigation is ongoing with more charges pending.
