July 8, 2019, City of Hammond, LA – The Hammond Police Department is currently investigating a homicide that occurred at approximately 12:40 am on July 5, 2019. The incident occurred in the parking lot of Nada Food Mart located at 310 East University Avenue, resulting in the death of Michael Cuccia, 41 years old of Hammond.


During the investigation, HPD detectives determined  Timmothy Berry, 37 years old of Hammond, fatally shot Cuccia.  An arrest warrant was issued on Berry for First Degree Murder in which members of the HPD were able to place Berry in custody later that day without incident. While executing the search warrant, a large amount of narcotics was found at the suspect’s home. Berry was charged with First Degree Murder, Possession of Schedule I Drugs and 3 counts of Possession of Schedule II Drugs.
