Hammond man arrested by deputies for burglary and more

HAMMOND, LA.--- Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports the following arrest.

August 3, 2018, James “Jimmy” Ray Ard Jr., 41-years-old of Hammond, LA. was arrested and taken into custody for a burglary that occurred in the Miller Lane Mobile Home Park on July 22, 2018.

Once again, the invaluable information obtained by surveillance video cameras place the suspect, James “Jimmy” Ray Ard Jr., walking into the mobile home park and continue to the victims residence. Moments after the suspect is seen walking up to the victim's home the resident's burglar alarm was activated. After a brief period with the alarm activated, the accused was again captured by surveillance cameras walking in the opposite direction of his initial approach - likely a clever move on his part in an attempt to elude contact with authorities. Unfortunately, during this time of Ard's presence near the victim's residence, their TV went missing.

With a good amount of surveillance video recovered, statements from witnesses, and evidence collected at the scene, James “Jimmy” Ray Ard Jr. was ID'd as the perpetrator.

Ard was subsequently located at a residence on Miller Lane in Hammond and taken into custody. Ard was charged with burglary and two outstanding warrants unrelated to the investigation.
