D.A. Scott Perrilloux announces candidacy
Twenty First Judicial District Attorney Scott Perrilloux has announced he will run for re-election in the upcoming November election.

“It has been an honor to serve as District Attorney for Tangipahoa, Livingston and St. Helena Parishes,” said Perrilloux. “I am always mindful of the authority the job carries and equally aware of the tremendous responsibility it requires.”

As district attorney, Perrilloux is responsible for the prosecution of all criminal violations of state law that occur in the three parishes that make up the district.

“Our focus has, and will continue to be, providing professional services to victims of crime and keeping the communities and neighborhoods of Tangipahoa, Livingston, St. Helena Parishes safe for all citizens” stated Perrilloux.

Perrilloux credits a staff of prosecutors that work on the front line daily to ensure the mission of the District Attorney’s office is carried out. The current staff has over 250 combined years of prosecution experience.

“We will continue to place a premium on obtaining and retaining an experienced and competent staff of Assistant District Attorneys,” stated Perrilloux. “These men and women, along with an experienced support staff, are the backbone of this office. Over the years, we have proven our office can successfully handle the tough cases.”

As District Attorney, Perrilloux has put an emphasis on the victim rights component of the criminal justice system.

“Many times, the concerns of crime victims seem to be overlooked. Although every member of our office is a victim’s advocate, we have increased the number of advocates whose sole responsibility is keeping victims aware of their court dates, accompanying them in the court room and communicating their concerns to prosecutors.”

Perrilloux said is it his goal that every victim feels they were treated fairly at the conclusion of their case. It is important to never forget them in the process.

“I am proud of the work we have accomplished. Prosecution is placed above politics with victims and safety a priority. Our conviction rate on felony cases and victim satisfaction rate both exceed 90% year after year.”

Perrilloux is a past member of the Louisiana District Attorney’s Association, serving as its president in 2005-06. He currently is a member of the Supreme Court’s Judicial Council. He is past recipient of the Victims and Citizens Against Crime Organization’s Prosecutor of the Year Award and a member of the Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame.

Scott Perrilloux is married to Nancy Bonicard Perrilloux and they have three children. He is a graduate of Hammond High School, Southeastern Louisiana University and Loyola School of Law.
