From Hammond Police
Hammond, LA – Since last Saturday the Hammond Police Department has been investigating a rash of vehicle burglaries occurring in the area of Old Covington Highway.
The HPD Patrol Division arrested two juvenile suspects on October 27, and after an investigation by the HPD Juvenile Criminal Investigations Division, another juvenile suspect was identified later that same day.
The two juveniles in custody have been charged with trespassing, criminal mischief, and vehicle burglary. An arrest warrant has been issued for the third juvenile for the same offenses. In total, the juveniles appear to be responsible for seven vehicle burglaries.
In all of these cases, the vehicles had been left unlocked with valuables inside the vehicle. Chief Edwin Bergeron, Jr. reminds people to “Lock it up, Hammond”.
