From Ponchatoula Police:

Chief Bry Layrisson reports the arrest of 18-year-old Ladarius Jennings on April 10, 2018, for his involvement in a shooting that took place the previous night at the Tasker Park on N. 1st Street in Ponchatoula.

On April 9, 2018, Officers were dispatched to the area of N. 1st Street after receiving calls of possible gun shots. They were able to make contact with the gunshot victim, Ricky Alexander Jr., who was being driven by a friend to North Oaks Hospital for two gunshot wounds. All other parties had already left the scene and were unable to be located. Upon investigation, detectives determined that two groups of individuals met at the park where a physical altercation took place. Guns were drawn after a brief period of time, which led to Alexander being shot.

The next day, Ladarius Jennings contacted authorities to turn himself in for his involvement in the incident, along with the weapon that he used. Ponchatoula Detective Miller, along with TPSO Detective Pittman, arrested Jennings and successfully retrieved the weapon. Jennings was booked for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and Aggravated Second Degree Battery and transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail. Ricky Alexander was released from the hospital and did not sustain life-threatening injuries. Additional arrests are pending as the investigation is still ongoing.
