Brown talks new book at Hammond Rotary

Former Louisiana statewide official Jim Brown will be guest speaker to the Hammond Rotary Club this coming Wednesday, January 22, at noon at Tope La Catering, 113 East Thomas Street, in Hammond.

Jim Brown has a new book out in called “My Louisiana Odyssey,” where he humorously looks back at quite a life in the public eye. Much of his book centers are personal experiences in Central Louisiana.

Few spectators of Louisiana life are as consistently interesting and provocative as Jim Brown. He seems to have seen it all in the Bayou State, both from the outside as an eyewitness, and from the inside as an active participant. If you are a reader unfamiliar with Jim Brown’s writings and weekly columns, what awaits in his new book is an onslaught of insightful opinions and salient explorations of wide-ranging topics covering the highs and lows of living in both the most interesting and rabble-rousing state in the nation.

Jim Brown has had a varied and enduring career. He has served as an elected official for 28 years in Louisiana, holding positions as a state senator, delegate to the 1973 constitutional convention, Secretary of State, and Commissioner of Insurance. He is an attorney and has taught Louisiana history at both Tulane University and Louisiana State University. He is the publisher of The Lisburn Press, a syndicated columnist, and the host of a nationally syndicated radio program, “Jim Brown’s Common Sense.”
