Att. murder and aggravated arson in Franklinton
From Franklinton Police Department
I believe it is reasonable to acknowledge the vast majority of the public we serve support or efforts to keep our communities safe.
We make every effort to be engaged with the public and we are dependent on you to assist us in our efforts.
When crime occurs in our communities, it is our duty to find those responsible and ensure their case is accurately presented to the District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
As a citizen, you want to live your life in a safe community, free of crime, yet with the understanding when crime does occur, those responsible are held accountable.
With this acknowledgement and understanding, our dependence on those of you who desire a safe community is imperative. We need you in the same manner you need us. Collectively, we must all work together to achieve a common goal.
You may be aware our agency is actively investigating a homicide in a area of our town commonly referred to as the cotton field. The suspect was immediately identified and arrested for the crime. Although the suspect is in jail, we still have a lot of work to do.
In conjunction with that homicide, our office is now investigating a retaliatory attempted murder and aggravated arson which was carried out on the family of the murder suspect.
In the early morning hours of June 3rd, officers were dispatched to a residence where video surveillance captured two male subjects pouring gasoline around a home then attempting to set the residence ablaze.
Inside the residence where two adults, one being elderly and another a child.
This was not a random act of violence yet a retaliatory attempt to murder the innocent family of the individual we had previously arrested.
We are asking for the public's assistance in identifying these two individuals and swiftly bring them to justice.
As I've previously stated, there is no room for hate in our society. There is also no room for vigilantly justice, especially that which is carried out on innocent citizens.
If we truly seek justice, this is an opportunity to put words into action. This is an opportunity to hold those accountable who seek to bring murder and hate to our communities.
If you know who the two individuals are or have knowledge related to the attempted murder and aggravated arson described above, we implore you to reach out to us.
