AMITE---Amite Police Chief Jerry Trabona is asking for the public’s assistance in solving a shooting case Monday night that left an Arcola man dead.
Trabona said officers responded to the 400 block of 3rd Street around 9:30 p.m. Monday and discovered the victim, Arkejen Freeman, 22, who had been shot once in the torso with a .9-millimeter weapon. Freeman was taken to Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite where he later died.
Detectives are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting, but they are searching for a male juvenile who is believed to be a person of interest in this case.
