UPDATE: Per TPSO Chief Deputy Dennis Pevey, suspect Kenneth "Baron" Baker was located in the course of a traffic stop in Ponchatoula. Baker was taken into custody "without incident" and transported to the TPSO Jail in Amite where he has been booked on charges of attempted second degree murder. A copy of the original story appears below:

PONCHATOULA---A 54-year-old man is being sought by deputies in an alleged attempted murder off Sister's Road near Ponchatoula.

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's deputies are asking the public's help in locating alleged suspect Kenneth "Baron" Baker, 54, who is wanted in the shooting of a white male mid-afternoon Sunday.

Deputies allege the victim was found at the Circle K in Ponchatoula shortly before 4 p.m. TPSO was routed to the scene after a 9-1-1 call at the Circle K location.

Deputies believe the victim, described only as a white male, was shot once in the face in an altercation which deputies theorize started at an address on Sister's Road, outside the Ponchatoula city limits. Based on information obtained in the investigation, deputies allege Baker reportedly shot the victim.

Baker is wanted for attempted second degree murder.

Deputies say the victim was taken by Acadian to North Oaks where he was transferred by AirMed to a New Orleans trauma unit. TPSO reports the victim was listed in stable condition as of late Sunday evening.
