Joseph Stephen Kropog was born on September 3rd, 1925 in Springfield, LA. He was a proud U.S. Naval Veteran of WWII, positioned as a Gunner’s mate Third Class on the USS Arnab from 1943-1945. Joe married the love of his life, Mary Bayus Kropog, in 1947. They settled in Albany, LA where they raised their three children Danny, Ronnie, and Susie. Joe retired from Delta Southern after 35 years of service, positioned as a welder but worked his way up to a superintendent. At home he worked in his fields growing corn, strawberries, and vegetables. Joe was very proud of his family and was excited to become a “Popo” to his 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He and his wife Mary were married for 70 loving years and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Joe was also an original charter member, honorary third-degree Knight of Columbus.

He is survived by his daughter, Darlene Sue Kropog Olah; sons, Dennis “Danny” E. Kropog and wife Dorothy, Ronald “Ron” J. Kropog and wife Carol; grandchildren, Leisa K. Humble, Ben Kropog, Jacob Kropog, Heather K. Wallace, Ashley O. Casteel, Amber O. Foster, Joshua Olah, and Paul Olah; as well as great-grandchildren, Samual, Connor, Brooke, Aidan, Sadie, Ava, Brody, Jessa, Addie, and Keean.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Ann Kropog.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Richard Murphy Hospice House in Hammond, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, Hammond, on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at St. Margaret Catholic Church, Albany, from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Jamin David will officiate with interment to follow in the Church Cemetery.
