UPDATE:
A Baton Rouge man has been charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of a Holden man Sunday morning.

James Smith, III, 39, of Baton Rouge, has been charged with second degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm in the Sunday shooting death of Randy Favaron, 39, of Holden.

Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard said the investigation is ongoing. Additional details will be released as they become available.

ORIGINAL RELEASE From the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office:
HOLDEN---Just after 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2017, deputies with the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office were called to Lakeview Drive in Holden in reference to a shooting incident.

Sheriff Jason Ard confirms, "One male was shot in the upper torso. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. A male suspect is in custody at this time. We do know the two males were involved in a verbal argument before the shot was fired. My detectives continue to investigate this case."

Sheriff will not identify the victim until next of kin has been notified.
