HAMMOND---On Saturday, May 20th from 11 AM to 2 PM, the Hammond Branch of Tangipahoa Parish Library will present its first Volunteer Fair.

The fair's theme, Build a Better World, ties in to this year's Summer Reading Program.

The Volunteer Fair is a great way to give back to your community, while supporting local non-profits.

This fair is organized like a job fair. Non-profit organizations will set up tables that will provide their volunteer opportunities. Local nonprofits include: CASA, Special Olympics, Tangi Humane Society, Options, Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center, Tangi Food Pantry, Fuller Center for Housing, Heart of Hospice, and SAFE.

For those that may not have time to commit to future volunteer endeavors, the library is offering ways to volunteer on site that day. There will be a blood drive, crochet and knitting groups set up, and more.

“This is a great chance for people of the community to come together and become familiar with different organizations. It is a way to reach out to the general public and to overall better Tangipahoa Parish,” says Director Barry Bradford.
