Ponchatoula man charged with obscenity for exposing himself to teens
From the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office:
COVINGTON---Almost immediately after posting the story on social media, the phones began ringing at the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, as many of our loyal social media followers provided the identity of a man wanted for exposing his private parts to teenage girls. The photo of the truck used in the crimes quickly circulated through cyberspace, and within minutes, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s detectives had a name – Derrick Lockhart.
Over the past month, deputies have received reports of a man exposing himself to young females in the River Chase Shopping Center Parking lot, along the Louisiana Highway 21 corridor, near Covington.
On two different occasions, teenage girls have reported they were in the parking lot when they observed an older model, silver/tan, Dodge pick-up with dual exhaust protruding from the bed driving around in an unusual manner. Both girls reported that the trucked stopped near where they were located, and the driver exposed his genitals to them.
Thanks to the many tips called by concerned citizens and the hard work of our detectives, a warrant was issued for Lockhart’s arrest late Thursday night. With the assistance of the Tangipahoa Sheriff’s Office, Lockhart was picked up at his home early Friday morning.
Derrick Lockhart, 40, of Ponchatoula was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on two counts of obscenity.
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office thanks everyone who called in with information about this crime.
The investigation is ongoing.
