AMITE---In celebration of Black History Month, the library is going to honor an African American middle or high school student who has demonstrated excellent community service and leadership in Tangipahoa Parish. Tangipahoa Parish Library is seeking nominations from principals, teachers, counselors, principals, school librarians, or community leaders of Tangipahoa Parish to highlight an African American student who exemplifies outstanding service.
“Last year was the first year we honored a student and the response was overwhelmingly positive,” said Library Executive Director Barry Bradford. “This year we will do the same since we realize there are a number of students who are making a difference in our parish.”
The winner will be selected by the Award Selection Committee and honored at an award ceremony February 18, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Amite Branch, 204 NE Central Ave. Amite, LA 70422. The library will accept nominations through Friday, January 27 at 3:30 PM. Nominations must be submitted electronically. A link to the nomination forms can be found at www.tangilibrary.com.
