From Ponchatula Police Chief Bry Layrisson

Layrisson opposes Zabbia’s attempt to change longstanding elections law.

PONCHATOULA- Ponchatoula Chief of Police Bry Layrisson is firmly opposed to Mayor Bob Zabbia’s proposal to change longstanding state election laws so that Ponchatoula can move its election date to the gubernatorial ballot.

“This is dirty politics,” said Layrisson. “There is no legitimate reason to change the statewide election law. The existing law already provides an option to move our elections to the congressional date, resulting in maximum taxpayer savings. If this was really about saving tax dollars, he would just follow the existing law and do that.”

“You probably noticed that the Mayor failed to provide any policy justification whatsoever for his proposal during the city meeting. His silence was very revealing,” Layrisson continued.

“Our people deserve better. We should focus on solving real problems, like traffic and infrastructure, not wasting our time and resources playing political games,” Layrisson concluded.
