Independence man sentenced to 7 years DOC on drugs, battery

AMITE---District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux reports that the following individuals appeared in court on February 7, 2018 before Judge Charlotte Foster and pleaded either guilty or no contest or were found guilty of the following crimes and received the following sentences:

Melvin Felder, age 19, of Hammond, LA, pleaded no contest to failure to report commission of certain felonies. He was sentenced to one year with the department of corrections. The sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation for one year. He is ordered to pay a $500.00 fine along with court costs.

Joshua Forbes, age 35, of Amite, LA, pleaded no contest to one count of introduction of contraband upon the grounds of any state correctional institution and third offense driving while intoxicated. He was sentenced to four years with the department of corrections. Time is to be served concurrently.

Jamarcus Grant, age 23, of Hammond, LA, pleaded no contest to armed robbery. Sentencing is scheduled for March 13, 2018.

Kimberlee Hagan, age 25, of Hammond, LA, pleaded no contest to battery on a correctional facility employee. She was sentence to one year with the department of corrections without the benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence. She received credit for time served.

Scott Landry, age 48, of Mandeville, LA, pleaded no contest to second offense driving while intoxicated. He was sentenced to six months in the parish jail. The sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He is ordered to pay a $1,160.00 fine along with court costs.

Joseph Paul Lucas, age 35, of Ponchatoula, LA, pleaded no contest to three counts of simple burglary and possession of a stolen firearm. He was sentenced to three years with the department of corrections. The sentence was deferred and he was placed on probation for three years. He is ordered to pay a $500.00 fine along with court costs.

Kanisha Sanders, age 25, of Hammond, LA, pleaded no contest to theft. She was sentenced to six months in the parish jail. The sentence was suspended and she was placed on probation for one year. She is ordered to pay a $500.00 fine along with court costs.

Kelvin Williams, age 39, of Independence, LA, pleaded no contest to aggravated battery and possession of schedule II controlled dangerous substances. He was sentenced to seven years with the department of corrections. Time is to be served concurrently.
