From the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office
Early this morning, St. Tammany Parish deputies were involved in a vehicle pursuit with a male subject who had apparently made suicidal threats earlier in the evening. The subject crashed his vehicle on Highway 190 in Lacombe, Louisiana. Deputies discovered that the driver had shot himself once in the head. He was transported to a hospital where he is currently still alive, however, all indications are that he will not survive. There were NO law enforcement officers involved who fired their weapon.
As with all investigations of this nature, a thorough follow-up will be conducted with family and friends of the subject to try and determine the reason for this man’s actions. His name will not be released at this time. If the subject expires, his name can be obtained from the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office.
