Hammond man arrested on heroin charges, drug warrant

March 17, 2017, City of Hammond, LA – In August of 2016, the Hammond Police Department’s Narcotics Division initiated an investigation into Sidney Dantzler, 33, of Hammond. During the investigation, undercover officers made heroin purchases from Dantzler. These purchases and other evidence resulted in a three-count felony warrant for Distribution of Heroin, a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS).
For several months, HPD and the Attorney General’s Office, Bureau of Investigation, made numerous attempts to locate and arrest Dantzler. On March 9, 2017, Dantzler was arrested by Louisiana State Police on unrelated heroin charges in Hammond.
Dantzler is charged with three counts of Distribution of Schedule I Heroin. This case will be presented to the District Attorney’s office for formal charges.
