From the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office

The early morning hours of February 16 were anything but normal for a Bogalusa man.  Armed with a search warrant, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force entered a home on Bankston Drive in Bogalusa and arrested the resident, Cody Jared Hall, 26.  Inside the residence, narcotics detectives discovered and seized a large amount of illegal narcotics including heroin, marijuana, Suboxone, Gabapentin, $3,100 cash, an automobile and various drug paraphernalia items.

A field test of the heroin revealed traces of fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid analgesic that is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine. Drug abusers refer to fentanyl by various names, including Apache, China Girl, China White, Dance Fever, Goodfella, Jackpot, Murder 8, TNT and Tango and Cash.  The combination of heroin and fentanyl is linked to numerous overdose deaths.

Hall was booked into the Washington Parish Jail charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I drugs, possession with intent to distribute Schedule III drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and sale, distribution or possession of legend drugs without a prescription or order.  No bond has been set at this time.

Hall was in jail previously. In 2009, he was booked into the jail for domestic abuse to a pregnant woman and released two days later after posting a $5,000 bond.  He was booked in 2012  for possession with intent to distribute illegal drugs and released the following day after posting a $35,000 bond.

Sheriff Randy Seal commented.  “Our fine narcotics detectives developed sufficient evidence to obtain a search warrant from a 22nd Judicial District Judge.    Hall was a major drug dealer operating in a quiet residential neighborhood and he earned and deserved his arrest and trip to jail.  I am so pleased our detectives were able to make this arrest and I hope it brings some peace to law abiding residents in the area.  Somewhere along the way, this young man failed to learn some important and meaningful life lessons.  Society is reaping the benefits of Dr. Spock’s permissiveness.   If you don’t correct a child when he is small, he will have the parents crying as an adult.  Children must learn discipline and structure.  Time out for a child when they are small is nothing but preparing a child for jail time when they grow up.”
