Baton Rouge man arrested by Tangi deputies, combative, armed with handgun

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports the arrest of 20 year old Baton Rouge resident Ezra Shannon.   Shannon was apprehended on December 7, 2013, at the Hammond Tractor Supply Store located on HWY 190. 

Deputies responded to the location in reference to a call for a suspicious vehicle and an unknown subject with a firearm.  When they arrived, deputies located 20 year old Shannon, staggering down an isle of the establishment.   Deputies then identified themselves and advised Shannon to stop and remove his hands from his pockets.   Shannon neglected to do so and became extremely combative with deputies.  After a brief struggle, deputies detained Shannon and located marijuana and a loaded handgun in his possession. 

Subsequently Ezra Shannon II was charged with the following offenses: 14:95 Possession of firearm by convicted felon, 14:95(A) Illegal concealment of a firearm, 14:95(E) Illegal carrying of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, 14:37.2 Aggravated assault with a firearm on a peace officer,  14:103 Disturbing the peace by public intoxication, 40:966(E) Possession of Marijuana, and 14:108.2 resisting an officer by force or violence.
