Lawmakers less pessimistic about Southeastern budget cuts

Over the past 5 years, SLU has been cut 88% in State funding.At least for the time being, no further cuts are expected.

Senator Bodi White, a Southeastern graduate, doesn't expect any "mid-year budget cuts" in December, for the first time in 5 years. 

Representative Chris Broadwater will propose legislation to restore some of the cuts to higher education.

 Senate Finance Committee Chairman Jack Donahue says the State now has a small surplus, for the first time since Governor Bobby Jindal and the legislature cut taxes $1.2 billion 5 years ago.
