HAMMOND---A Hammond pair have been arrested in an alleged purse-snatching case earlier this week west of Ponchatoula.

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Dawn Panepinto said 33-year-old Melissa Ann Messer and 35-year-old Christopher Lee Ricker were arrested on simple robbery charges related to an alleged purse-snatching at the Family Dollar on the corner of Hwy 22 West and Pumpkin Center Road late Monday afternoon.

The victim was allegedly entering her car when the pair reportedly took her purse and fled.

Panepinto said both suspects had outstanding warrants at the time of their arrest this week.

As of late Thursday afternoon, both Messer and Ricker remained in custody at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail in Amite.
