Swift water rescue team rescues man, son in Saturday storms
KENTWOOD—A father and his one-year-old child were rescued after Saturday’s heavy rainfall left creeks overflowing into local roadways.

Officials say the man was driving his vehicle across a flooded North Lewiston Road when floodwaters pushed his vehicle off the roadway.

The swift water rescue team at the Kentwood Fire Department deployed and rescued the man and his one-year-old child from the floodwaters.

At the height of Saturday’s storms, approximately one dozen Tangipahoa Parish roadways were posted for high water. As of midday Sunday, only one road—Briar Patch Cemetery Road in Loranger—remained closed due to water across the roadway.
