Missing two-year-old found safe following search in Slidell
From Slidell Police:
It was a scary moment this morning for an out-of-state family, who was spending the night at a Slidell hotel. This story, thankfully, has a happy ending. Some may call it luck; others may call it a miracle.

Around 7:00 a.m., Slidell Police responded to the Holiday Inn Express (372 Voters Road, Slidell, LA), in reference to a report of a missing 2-year-old boy. The boy’s parents last saw their child when they went to sleep last night, and at some point throughout the evening, the boy woke up and wondered out of the room.

Fearing the worst, nearly 20 Slidell Police officers and detectives began canvassing the area searching for the missing child. Approximately 30 minutes later, the little boy was found sleeping in an adjacent hotel room. It appeared the little boy exited his room early this morning, and began going door to door trying to get back into his room. The child stumbled upon a vacant hotel room, and what some would call a miracle, the door was not fully closed/locked. The little boy went inside the room, climbed into bed, and went to sleep.

When he was found this morning, he was peacefully sleeping, unharmed and safe.

Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal says, “We are grateful this had a happy ending. If you have a small child, you know how quickly things like this can happen. We hope that someone reads this story and takes something away from it. You can never be too cautious with a small child.”
