Anderson, Perret named HWM 2018 Students of Year
Eighth grader Demetriane Anderson, daughter of Roschelle and Demetrice Anderson has been named Hammond Westside Montessori’s 2017-2018 Student of the Year. She is an extremely intelligent young lady who loves helping others. She is a dedicated student who is always supporting her school and fellow students by participating in numerous school activities and tutoring other students. She is an active member of school’s dance team, 4-H Club, Jr. Beta Club, Leading Ladies, and Career Day Club, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Demetriane recently won 2nd place in the school’s Essay and Poetry contest which was featured at the Tangipahoa Parish Fair. She has participated in the Pre-teen America Scholarship Program for the last two years where she won several awards. Demetriane travelled to Maryland & Washington summer or 2016 and Boston this past summer 2017, and will be going to New York in the summer of 2018 for the Junior National Leaders Conference. She also plans to attend the Harvard University summer program next year to take some courses to prepare her for her college years where she plans to study Law and Psychology. We are proud to say Demetriane has earned her title for Student of The Year and look forward to her future.

Fifth grader Colin Perret, son of Christopher and Christina Perret, and Candice Harper Perret, has been named Hammond Westside Montessori’s 2017-2018 Student of the Year. Colin’s interests include fishing, music, art, and working with electronics. As well as being an athlete with Chappapeela Sports Park and STYSA Soccer. Colin is also a member of HWM’s Robotics Club. Colin has performed community service at both Journey Church feeding the community and Belle Maison Nursing Home spending quality time visiting residents. Colin demonstrates being Student of the Year by being on the Honor Roll, being knowledgeable in many aspects, his recognitions, being a student tutor, having perfect attendance, and being so caring of his classmates and helping others without being asked. Colin’s dream is to attend Louisiana State University where he’s interested in earning a law degree. Colin has earned being nominated as HWM’s fifth grade Student of the Year and is more than deserving. We’re very proud of Colin and want to encourage him to keep doing great and always chase his dreams!
