Sheriff, deputies arrest Hammond man wanted in BR murder
From the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office:
HAMMOND, LA – (December 3, 2017) – The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Office reports that shortly after 7:00 a.m. Sunday morning (Dec. 3), Sheriff Daniel Edwards was contacted by East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hiller Moore to assist in executing a search and arrest warrant for accused murder suspect 53-year-old Taher Toom of Hammond.

With active warrants in hand, Sheriff Edwards and TPSO deputies executed the warrants at Toom’s residence 12:12 p.m. Sunday, subsequently taking Toom into custody without incident.

Toom is accused of fatally shooting 50-year-old Zakaria Toom at around 1:45 a.m Sunday in Baton Rouge. The BR Police Department has charged Toom of second-degree murder and the illegal use of a weapon.
