Ponchatoula Police arrests pair in alleged possession of AK-47

PONCHATOULA---Chief Layrisson reports that a routine traffic stop led to the arrest of two individuals in possession of a firearm.

On Oct. 9, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had no visible license plate. The driver identified as Earl Pines, 25, notified the officers that there was a weapon in the vehicle and cooperated with the officers’ commands to secure the weapon for officer safety. The weapon was a semi-automatic AK-47 rifle.

Officers discovered that Earl Pines could not be in possession of a weapon due to an ongoing protective order and the passenger, Julian Alexander, 28, is currently on parole.

Earl Pines was charged with a Violation of a Protective Order and Julian Alexander was charged with Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Both subjects were transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
