HAMMOND, LA –--- On Monday August 7th, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriffs Office Financial Crimes Unit began an investigation into unauthorized charges made on a citizen’s Whitney Bank debit card. The initial investigation revealed one successful transaction was made on the card on August 6th, 2017, at the Academy Sports and Outdoors Store, located at 600 C M Fagan Drive in Hammond.

After reviewing video surveillance of both the location where the card had been compromised and the location the card was used, it was learned three people were involved in the criminal act, two adult females and one juvenile male. While at the Academy Sports and Outdoors on August 6th, Detective Travis Pitman made contact with one of the perpetrators, identified as Ponchatoula resident 26 y/o Antoinette Williams, where he recovered the gift card purchased with the stolen credit card on the previous night of August 6th, 2017. Williams in a post Miranda statement provided information identifying her mother Ponchatoula resident 42 y/o Leslie Davis, who also uses the alias Tonya Davis, and Davis’ juvenile son as being the persons’ who committed the credit card fraud.

A supplemental investigation and forensic review of the video surveillance revealed Williams, Davis and the juvenile all acted in concert during the crime. Additionally, the trio returned to the same store right before closing on August 6th, 2017, and attempted a second transaction in excess of six hundred dollars with the stolen debit card, which was unsuccessful.

Detective Pitman has obtained arrest warrants for Antoinette Williams and her mother Leslie Davis for on count L.R.S.14:67.3 Unauthorized Use of an Access Card, one count L.R.S.14:27-67.3 Attempted Unauthorized Use of an Access Card and one count L.R.S.14:92 Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile. Leslie Davis is also wanted as a fugitive from the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office for an active warrant for L.R.S. 14:67 Theft by Fraud.
