COVINGTON – Approximately two months ago, agents with the St. Tammany Parish Narcotics Task Force conducted an investigation, during which Michael Goslee (1225 W. 20th Ave, Covington – DOB: 6/26/91) was arrested for being in possession of high-grade marijuana.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned that one of Goslee’s marijuana sources was Joseph Jackson (14102 S. Lakeshore Dr, Covington – DOB: 9/5/73), the owner of Southernz Subs sandwich shop in Covington.
Agents turned their investigation toward Jackson. Several independent sources led agents to believe Jackson was operating a significant marijuana cultivation operation out of his home. Agents obtained a search warrant for Jackson’s home and conducted a search of the residence last Thursday.
During the search, agents found Jackson and a friend, Derek Granger (78104 Oak Ridge Dr, Folsom – DOB: 9/1/90) at the home. They also discovered a grow operation consisting of 125 high-grade marijuana plants and various paraphernalia used in the grow, including 1000 watt light bulbs, carbon filters, electric timers and a dedicated A/C unit. In addition to the above listed items, agents also seized approximately ¼ ounce of powdered cocaine, scales and other drug paraphernalia.
The production capacity of the operation is estimated to be 7 – 8 pounds of marijuana every 16 weeks, with a street value of approximately $4,000 per pound.
Jackson was booked with distribution and possession with intent to distribute Schedule I controlled dangerous substances (marijuana), possession of Schedule I controlled dangerous substances, possession with intent to distribute Schedule II controlled dangerous substances (cocaine), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jackson was arrested Thursday and released Friday on $100,000 bond.
Granger was booked with distribution and possession with intent to distribute Schedule I controlled dangerous substances (marijuana), possession of Schedule I controlled dangerous substances, possession with intent to distribute Schedule II controlled dangerous substances (cocaine), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Granger was also arrested Thursday and remains in jail on a $750 signature bond.
