HAMMOND – The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office proudly announces the graduation of 13 new reserve deputies for the year of 2010.
In an official ceremony, Sheriff Edwards proudly reads the “Oath of Office” to all graduating reserves as they echo his words and accept the responsibility to be of service to our parish. Graduating members from the TPSO, Hammond Police Department and the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office have just completed over 300 hours of rigorous training to have the ability to accept this Oath and effectively enforce Law’s in efforts to keep our community safe.
The Sheriff’s Office Reserve Program is comprised of individuals throughout the community who volunteer their time and talents to assist the Sheriff's Office in its day-to-day law enforcement services and to assist during emergencies. Our reserve deputies are the faces you see at local athletic games and community events. They also provide assistance to any area of the sheriff’s office. In 2009, our reserve deputies contributed over 16,000 hours of community service to our community.
“All reserve deputies are required to maintain the same level of training and high standards of the conduct required of any deputy sheriff. The reserve division without a doubt makes us a better and stronger sheriff’s office. Their level of commitment to the community and to my department is unwavering.” ….Sheriff Edwards
