Applicants Needed for Slidell’s Citizen Academy
Chief Randy Smith is proud to announce that the Slidell Police Department will be holding it’s second of many Citizen Academies. The academy will give the students an in-depth look at the Operations and Functions of the Slidell Police Department to include Crime Scene and Evidence Processing, S.W.A.T, Communications, Patrol and Corrections. Students will be allowed to ride along with a Patrol Officer to see first hand what it’s like being a Slidell Police Officer. Students will be exposed to all aspects of the department, as all instructors are employees of the department.
Classes will be held every Wednesday from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm. The first class starts on Wednesday, October 6th, 2010 with graduation on Wednesday, November 17th, 2010. Anyone 19 years or older can attend as long as they have no felony convictions, a background check will be conducted on all applicants prior to attending.
The class is limited to forty students.
All classes will be held at the Slidell Police Department’s Regional Training Academy located on the grounds of the Camp Villere National Guard Base off Airport Road in Slidell.
Applications can be picked up at the Slidell Police Department located at
2112 Sgt. Alfred Drive (Third Street). Applications need to be turned in no later then September 15th, 2010.
