The annual Policeman's Ball is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Twelve Oaks dining hall in Hammond.

The black-tie event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., with a social hour until 8 p.m. and a formal ceremony from 8-9 p.m.

U.S. Attorney Jim Letton of the Eastern District of Louisiana will be the guest speaker.

Tickets are $100 per person for an evening of dinner, dancing, and entertainment by the Dominos.

Sicilian Grand Marshal

SDT Waste President Sidney Torres IV has been named Grand Marshal of the Sicilian Festival which runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Independence. Torres is pictured above with Mayor Mike Ragusa and Chairman Reggie Martin holding a case of Castello beer that was presented to him at Town Hall. The genuine imported Sicillian beer will be available at the festival this weekend.
