Rita Betz Mautner

Rita Betz Mautner went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 27, 2012 at the age of 69, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Rita was a native of Baton Rouge and resident of Colyell and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She leaves behind her daughter, Marla Johnson and husband Benjamin, two sons, Mark Griffin and wife Stefanie, Thomas Griffin and wife Sheila, along with five granddaughters, Nicole, Kelsi and Benay Johnson, Michelle and Colby Blackburn. She is also survived by her two sisters, Emmalen Betz and Katie Mae Myers; three brothers, F.S., Jr., Donald Lee and Howard Betz, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Ferdinand and Katie Betz; a son, Timothy Blake Griffin.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond, on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home chapel on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and again on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service time. Rev. John Carrigan will officiate the services and interment will follow in Carter Cemetery in Springfield.

The family extends special thanks to Pat Young, caregiver and friend who cared for Mrs. Rita on a daily basis. Memorial donations may be made in honor of Mrs. Rita to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC. 20090.
