Council votes to file 'friendly lawsuit'
The Livingston Parish Council voted 5-4 Thursday night to file a "friendly lawsuit" to settle a dispute over who has the authority to sign checks in the Ricks administration. Councilman Marshall Harris proposed the suit to get a finite answer on whether an "interim" finance director has the right to sign checks for the administration. Parish President Layton Ricks and DA Scott Perrilloux both denied any wrongdoing by the administration in drafting multiple checks during this period between the inaugural and introduction of a full-time permanent finance director for the parish.
